About Luxembourg
Before arriving to Luxembourg City, the capital of a state with a population under half a million people, you might expect a small town with lots of old buildings, museums and, who knows, maybe a post office.
But you will be amazed how well this city has managed to combine old and new, tradition and modernity.
Despite its small size and population (approx. 120 000 people), Luxembourg seems to be always in the vanguard of things economical and political. You will be visiting one of the richest cities on the planet, so try to keep your envy in check. Also, Luxembourg is one of the three “capitals” of the European Union, the other two being Strasbourg and Brussels. Consequently, expect to find quite a bustle in this wonder of a city, a place where a tourist has lots of things to see and do.
You probably didn’t come to Luxembourg to see your reflection in the glassy walls of banks and Euro-offices, so you will probably spend most of your tourist time in the old side of town, down below the menacing fortress walls where the scars of arrows, cannon balls and other historical things are still visible.
